Mulukhiyah

Description

Mulukhiyah, also spelled molokhia or mulukhiyya, is a green leafy vegetable that is popular in Middle Eastern, North African, and East Mediterranean cuisines. The plant, known scientifically as Corchorus olitorius, is also referred to as jute mallow or Jew’s mallow.

 

Application

The leaves of the mulukhiyah plant are rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, making them a nutritious addition to the diet. When cooked, mulukhiyah has a slightly slimy texture, similar to okra, and a flavor that is often described as earthy and somewhat reminiscent of spinach.
